A Bit About Myself

I am a proud graduate of Grand Valley State University. While at GVSU I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry with a Secondary Education emphasis, earning my DA and DC teaching certification for the State of Michigan. I have also earned my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University.
At GVSU I was awarded the Paul Huizenga Education Scholarship, the John Salski Biology Scholarship, and the Howard and Rose Stein Scholarship for Science Education.
I currently teach Biology and Chemistry at Cedar Springs High School. I am also serving as the Science Department Chair and the Tech 21 Administrative Lead. At Houghton Lake High School I had the opportunity to be an Academic Interventionist, teach Biology, Chemistry, ACT prep, 8th grade tech prep science, 8th grade Focus, and Freshmen Focus.
I also have a passion for coaching. I have coached JV girls tennis, Freshmen boys basketball, JV boys basketball, JV girls basketball, and Varsity golf.
As an educator I feel as though my most important job is to help students prepare for life after high school. In my opinion giving attention to hidden curriculum is a valuable piece of a complete high school education.
“The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives.” -Robert Hutchins
