Summer 2017 has been a whirlwind for discovering the value of literature. As a teacher, and previously a student who always performed well with academics, this really should say I re-discovered the value of literature. The only problem with this statement would be the truth is I had never really enjoyed reading in the first place. In spurts I would grab hold of a book I connected with, but on the whole my mind always preferred mindless video gaming or listening to Pandora. As the result of persistent encouragement from a few colleagues, this summer I dove into reading and listening to audio books. I have found cycling as a hobby and my 25 minute work commute perfect outlets to queue up an audio book and enrich my time.
